This is the second book in the series. Both Volume I and this one are excellent. The only problem is that neither one are stand-alone novels. The issues and plots are not resolved in either volume, and require a third volume which has not yet been completed as of this review of March 2015. The lead character is amazing as she takes on the roles required of her by a secret organization to solve the mystery of her parents' deaths, and learn about her true birthright. Nothing is as it seems, and she is uncertain as to what the truth really is. In this sequel, she struggles to survive, hiding under a new identity, and running from the secret organization she has escaped from. There are many twists and turns and the plot is suspenseful and riveting. She questions everything and longs for security and safety. A futuristic theme about continual longevity and the use of science to maintain the body for hundreds of years is also riveting as this theme plays out throughout the novel. A very imaginative and innovative story-line.Product details

second book of series that continues the story of Samantha. Joe, and the Elite. Samantha finds herself continually being chased by the Elite, as Joe hunts for info for the FBI. A good read but need to have read the first book in the series. Naturally you have to purchase the last two books.
The book was good. It wasn't quite as fast paced in the beginning as book 1. I was very disappointed to get to the end, only to find it wasn't the end, again,. A sequel is one thing but a never ending story wears on my patience. I'm not even sure I want to stay tuned for the "real" end.
This book in the series leaves you wanting more! Action packed and full of surprises! Can't wait to read the final book!
Great series! Loved the plot although a little futurastic in the science area.
This story was well written and I can't wait to read the next book in the series. I gave a 5 star rating because I would read this one again.
What a twisted thriller and mystery
The second book again keeps you guessing every moment. The characters are well developed and the plot unfolds in unexpected ways. The ending leaves you needing to download the third book and I will definitely be doing that ad soon as it is released! The book and plot are definitely out there, but amazing at that. Would recommend. Nothing like what I have read before. Well written and compelling.
Piercing The Darkness picks up where author D. A. Bale's first thriller in the series ended. Read Running Into the Darkness before you start "Piercing" so you're up to speed-then hang on! Bale weaves a taut tale of political intrigue, international skullduggery and plain ole revenge worthy of anything heading 's top selling thrillers. The protagonist, Samantha Bartlett, is one smart, sexy woman with a past-and a grudge. Samantha has been used, then betrayed by a powerful organization bent on taking control of the U.S. government. She has few friends, and the friends she DOES have begin dying as her pursuers close in.
This well-researched novel is a fun and exciting read. The characters will stay with you long after you've finished reading.
